Deblina Dey is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School where she teaches sociology of law. She did her B.A. (St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata) and M.A. (Jawaharlal Nehru University) in Sociology, and has received her M.Phil. degree from the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance (CSLG), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Currently, Deblina is also pursuing her doctoral studies from CSLG, JNU. Her doctoral research enquires into the changing role of family, state and the market with regard to elderly care in India. Some of her other research interests include: legal and medical anthropology, epistemologies of violence, sociology of the market, religion, disability and kinship studies. She has also served as the Member Secretary of the Disability Support Committee of the university (2016-2018) and envisaged a policy, where none existed, based on her interaction with students and colleagues.
